A little back ground: My son's wedding went from a simple wedding at the Justice of the Peace, to let's have a simple ceremony in three weeks. Lets plan on 30 guests instead of 10. I am so pumped. These are the things that keep me going. Here are some things I have learned this past week about planning a wedding.
1) I need to buy my own building in the downtown area of every city in the state of Texas. Most place in Lubbock charge anywhere from $1,000.00 to $1,750.00 just for the use of space. No tables or food or decorations included.
If I had my own building you can bet that I would be way more fair to people like us who have little money and just need a simple wedding.
2) Write all your ideas down so you don't forget them. Then check them off as you go so you feel accomplished. I use Pinterest for most of my ideas. It's just hard to check them off and I find my sell chasing rabbits for hours.
3) Don't expect people who owe you favors to actually be available to follow through on the favor when you need it the most. Plan to just be able to do everything with just the help of your parents. My parents rock! I would be lost without them. Literally I probably would be living on the streets.
The wedding is coming along really well. Working three jobs has its benefits. One of my part time jobs is at Church on the Rock in Lubbock. Even though I don't think the pastor knows my name after I have been there for 4 years, his daughter does and I think she pulled some strings. I often wish she was my best friend. But that's another story. Anyway, I get to use the church for, for less then a paycheck!
With the help of my parents, the flowers are ordered and the fabric is on its way.
I have enlisted the beginner skills of my 15 year old triples to create two amazing cakes.
The groom and his guys will be my muscles.
There will be pictures. Somehow someway.
This is going to be a simply amazing wedding.
We will be ready for you, Mr. November the Tenth.
